Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. This page says which, what they pay, and what they do not change.

Which links

Links to TP-Link's US store (Tapo cameras) go through TP-Link's affiliate programme on CJ Affiliate. If you click one and buy something within TP-Link's referral window, this site receives a commission from TP-Link, currently 10% of the order. You pay the same price either way.

Every affiliate link is marked as such in the sentence next to it, before or beside the link, on the page where it appears. Links that are not so marked are plain links: the tapo.com product pages, TP-Link's support FAQ, Frigate's documentation, GitHub, YouTube and the rest carry nothing back to us. Affiliate links also carry rel="sponsored" in the page source, which is how search engines are told the same thing.

What it does not change

The cameras were bought at retail before any programme approved this site, and the pages that recommend them were written before that too. Where a page says something did not work, or that a different product is the better buy for a bigger house, that stays. If a recommendation ever changes, it will be because something changed on the cameras or on Frigate, and the page will say what.

There are no sponsored posts, no paid placements and no advertiser has seen a page before it went up. The empty ad slots you may notice in the layout are reserved for a display-ad network the site does not yet qualify for; they are not affiliate placements.

Other programmes

Applications to other affiliate programmes (hosting providers, network hardware) have been submitted and may be approved later. When one is, its links will be marked in the same way and this page will list it. As of 2026-09-03, TP-Link is the only one live.
